Most people come to Dar Moha simply because of the reputation of its location, tucked inside the medina within the former residence of the Pasha of Marraekch and later fashion icon Pierre Balmain. Lacking the almost almost-fluorescent blue styling of Yves saint Laurent’s landmark Moroccan home, this stately raid restaurant is laid in typical medina fashion with even more convenient location defined by Arabian arches and wood work creating grand ceiling relief for perfect dinnertime visuals. At the center of the property is a tiled garden with pool surrounded in white clothed tables for idyllic dinners under the Moroccan night in one of the prettiest restaurant settings in all of Marrakech.

The Food

A thoroughly Moroccan menu better than most you will find even at Marrakech’s top hotels is orchestrated by chef Mohamed Fedal who utilized produce grown at his hotel estate Le Bled located 5-miles outside of the medina. A prix fixe menu begins with a selection of 10 or so traditional salads and spreads served with homemade flatbread as well as selection of hearty appetizers. Main course us a mix of seafood like monkfish and lobster and meat-minded tanjines served with fresh couscous and hearty portions of adventurous quail, game hen and chicken. Working the room during dinner is a selection of local musicians who range from passive to annoying when collection post-dinner tips " try to keep a patient heart and remember most of these worker work on tips alone and even the smallest of amounts is acceptable.

Last Word

Don’t miss the private dining room named after Balmain ideal for larger groups and private events with menus created per request by Fedal himself.
